Hi, these past 2 weeks I have been strapped for time. I am trying to make Megan Heyhurst Photography number one on my work list of priorities but the reality is the income is not there to make it number one full time. That is what happens when you are starting a business, it all takes time.

To say I have been busy is an understatement. Last night my husband asked me when was the last day that I had off? We could not remember. We think it was Christmas Day but even then we think I took some time to edit. I have added a few things to my list these days since December. In November I started working with the La Ronge Ice Wolves. I began doing action shots and special event photos for them, along with the team photo and headshots. I also signed on to help run their social media accounts. I created a weekly cooking show for them called Taco Tuesday that gets filmed in my kitchen each week. We will air 10 episodes in total. Our last one gets recorded this week. It has been fun but it also has been very demeaning. I think sometimes people think that social media is just throwing a photo up and a little caption. That photo, that caption, the mentions, and the hashtags that go with it, along with the time it gets posted are all calculated. Same goes for what platform you post it on. Social Media is a full time job in itself. I then added play by play and a podcast to my resume. It has all been a blast, I just am not very good at balancing out my time. That will come though I hope.

This past weekend we went to Flin Flon Manitoba Friday night, came home the next day to call a game here after a quick maternity photo shoot. Then the next day I volunteered my photography services to NAR so that all the proceeds from the Valentines Day Photoshoot would go back to them. We had 17 sessions in total! Great turn out. I have a lot of work to do to get these photos out to everyone. They turned out simply sweet so I can’t wait to sort through them all. Right after that shoot it was off to the rink to watch my son in his evening goalie session, then we recorded a podcast at 11pm. I have been making it a habit of going to bed at around 3am. Not ideal I know, but that is just the current state of my life. I find myself always telling my husband that once I am caught up it will be ok I will sleep but I am beginning to think that I just will never get caught up when I’m working so many jobs at once. It is just the nature of the multitasking right now. Its been a rush and a really great opportunity so the late hours and lack of sleep are 100 percent worth it.

So stay tuned because even though I may not make a post on my social medias as much as I would like, I still am booking clients and working around the clock taking photos. I love photography, behind the camera makes me so happy, especially if I have a cup of coffee with me. Have a great week everyone!
